The show became an overnight hit when it was released in 1999, with it's quirky, hard hitting comedy and abstract characters, including a talking dog and a baby with an upper-class english accent.

Gameplay & Bonuses

Family Guy is a 5-reel, 30-payline slot machine from IGT. The game is centered around the popular, and somewhat twisted TV show of the same name, featuring the wacky Griffins family from Rhode Island. The playful release bears a similarity to its original, physical slot counterpart, available in a number of popular casinos.

The game itself is actually very good, unlike so many other slots that have been based on big brands. There is a lot more to it than just the brand.

The reels are set against the family's living-room, and they are populated with the well-known protagonists – Lois, Peter, Brian, Stewie, Meg, and Chris, that all make up the higher value symbols on the reels. In addition, you will see the Stewie's teddy bear, his ray gun, a bottle of beer, and a TV set. The Family Guy logo acts as Wild, substituting for all other icons, apart from the 'World Bonus' Scatter, which is key to activating the Bonus features.

One of the best aspects about Family Guy slots is the huge number of feature rounds (bonuses) that it has. You could play the game for ages and still discover new things every time you play, which will make it a huge hit for fans of the show.

Family Guy slot boasts multiple bonuses, such as the Family Guy World Bonus that includes the Drunken Clam feature, Chicken Fight, and Lois's Hot Free Spins. Moreover, you can benefit from the randomly triggered Griffin Family Mystery feature where Peter, Stewie, Lois, and Brian award lucrative extras in the form of instant cash prizes, stacked Wilds, or additional Scatters that can help you activate the World Bonus.

To trigger the World Bonus, you are required to land three Scatters anywhere on the reels 2, 3, and 4, and then spin the globe to get one of the 3 special features.

Chicken Fight will award between 5x and 1000x your bet, the Drunken Clam Bonus will prompt you to pick one of the protagonists to reveal between 25x and 1000x, as well a multiplier for your wins. Finally, Lois' Free Spins will grant 10 free games, however, Giggity Retriggity symbol on the third reel may provide you with additional 5 free spins, up to a maximum number of 30.

Personally, my favorite bonus involves the free spins, because of the wins I get playing that one, especially when you get more wilds when the game re-triggers. That said, I love to play the other bonus games too, because of the comedy you get with them.

The game's RTP varies between 92.50% and 96.05%, whereas the potential, maximum winning spin is 1000x your stake, and could be won during the World Bonus feature, thanks to generous multipliers and stacked Wilds that can significantly boost your winning potential.

Family Guy Games Online

One thing to note, though, like a lot of 'big brand' games, Family Guy is not a game where you are likely to win money, because the pay-out rate is so low. It is, though, a fantastic to go to when you want a laugh and a joke and some real entertainment. It's a time to sit back, relax and enjoy the cartoons, the music and the fun.

Family Guy Online was free-to-play using the Unity game engine. The game launched into public beta in April 2012, but on December 21, 2012, the developers announced that the game would not be developed beyond beta status and would be permanently shut down on January 18, 2013. The shutdown took place as announced, and the game is now closed.[2]

Gameplay[edit]

Family Guy Games Online Quest For Stuff

The player character receives a quest from Stewie Griffin, a character from the television series Family Guy that acts as a non-playable quest giver in the game.

Family Guy Online uses cel shaded graphics.[3] The game uses typical MMORPG character classes such as having Stewie act as a ranger, Peter as a tank, and Lois as a healer.[4] Players create their own character in the game using the Griffin family as a template. The actual characters from the show are reserved as non-playable characters (NPCs) in the game in order to give the player quests and advance the storyline (pictured).[4] The NPCs in the game are voiced by the same voice actors in the show.[4]

The game used two types of in-game currency: cash and clams.[3] Clams are earned by completing in-game objectives.[3]

Development[edit]

Family Guy Online was first revealed by 20th Century Fox through social media and through its official website on June 16, 2011,[5] with initial plans to launch the game in autumn 2011.[3] People wishing to join the beta phase for the game were invited to register on the website, although registration did not guarantee entrance into the beta.[5] The game would use the Unity game engine to run within a user's web browser.[3] IGN's Nick Kolan said that the game's use of cel shaded graphics showed potential for the game, but worried that it 'could also be a total no-effort cash-cow.'[3]

Rather than licensing the rights to create a game based on the television series, Family Guy Online was developed directly by 20th Century Fox, in partnership with Roadhouse Interactive and Sleepy Giant Entertainment.[4] The publisher of the game wanted it to appeal to both casual and hardcore gamers, and to this end chose to make the game using the Unity engine instead of developing it as a game for Facebook.[4]

The game was launched in 2012 and entered a public beta phase on April 17, 2012, but never moved out of beta.[4][6] On December 21, 2012, an announcement posted on the Family Guy Online website stated that the game would be permanently closed on January 18, 2013.[7] Real-money purchases that players had made within the 60 days prior to the announcement would be refunded to them.[8]
